Work Title:
Proposed plan for supplying the City of Philadelphia with pure water from Flat Rock Dam, without interfering with the sewerage of the City, or the immense manufacturing interest located below said dam. , 1868 (circa)
Date:
1868 (circa)
Description:
Water supply plan which accompanied a petition from manufacturers in Manayunk along the Schuylkill River, who wanted to continue polluting the river with their factory wastes, and suggested an alternative water supply for the Philadelphia that would allow them to do this. The plan was not adopted, and the City continued, with varied success, to protect the water supply at Fairmount from manufacturing pollution. As with many old plans folded into the Water Department’s bound reports, this one was in pieces (with some parts missing) and needed major repairs before scanning. 2004.057.0063h
